Thankful for Insulin
Today I received a request from a lovely gentleman, Clarence, who self describes himself as “a 90 year young geezer, insulin-dependent, since 1977”. He asked that I spread the message “asking insulin users, worldwide, who are living a healthy lifestyle because of INSULIN, to join me on JULY 30 annually to have a moment of silence and give THANKS and support the RESTORATION of the BANTING HOMESTEAD and turn it into a camp for diabetic children.” Well Clarence, most certainly! Myself and thousands others have plenty to be thankful for. 2008/07/02 Not all bad news...check it out ADVANCE Diabetes Trial does not show more deaths like the ACCORD. The ADVANCE diabetes trial has released preliminary results showing that better blood sugars DO NOT result in more deaths, as had been seen in the ACCORD trial. Read about news here.

2006/03/22 Diabetes News and Nuggets (As an educator I was surprised to read this. Although a rare problem, please inform yourself if you are or have been on this antibiotic.) Inhaled Insulin is Here! The FDA has approved Exubera Inhaled Insulin. It is expected to be available June/July 2006. Inhaled insulin has long been sought as an alternate to needles.
